These Eyes, Part 2

I wanted to share some photos of our sweet, handsome boy taken after his surgery!

As you can see his left eye was slightly under-corrected. The surgeon did this intentionally because in his experience the eye will tend to drift further outward once the muscle has been loosened. It should fall even closer to perfect alignment over the next couple of years.

It moves in sync with the other eye when he is looking to the right. When he looks left it only moves to slightly left of center, as you can see in the 7th photo down. This should also improve with time and natural drifting.

The blood tests came back negative for Toxocara Canis, but I read that it doesn't always show up on blood tests. But alas, we will probably never know what caused the retinal fold, although the doctor insists there is scar tissue so it must have been some sort of trauma or infection. No matter... unless medicine makes monumental strides during his lifetime, he will never regain vision in that eye.

Isn't it amazing what a difference a few centimeters make? We didn't even see his crossed eye anymore after our first week with him. It was strange to see it sorta straight at first!

We think he was gorgeous before, and here is the after...

WOW big change! He certainly is a good looking young man.

I got your comment on our Embassy News!!! Thank You. I'm starting to allow myself to get excited. And yes we did see the pics of Milo in his Future Pilot shirt. You should have seen the grin on Bob's face when I showed him the picture of Milo with the RC plane.

Milo is such a beautiful child! Glad that his eyes are correcting - it will probably be easier to see! I don't know if you read it, but Miras has some eye drift too. It's probably more common that we know.

what a precious precious lil boy, but then again, you already know that.

Regina-he looks so much like you I think! I remember the first picture of him you ever posted of him. Reading about how much you loved him and seeing his picture with you-there was NO DOUBT that HE WAS YOUR SON!

I love him climbing in his bare feet.
I love leeting Leeza have naked time -except now she has a total FIT when she has to get dressed or put on her diaper...i'm talking MAJOR SPAZ ATTACK, tears, red face...THE WORKS.
THE HONEYMOON IS OVER! :)

However, of course, I still love her even more every second, but I am happy when she takes a nap. :)
HA HA

Much love to you and your precious precious family. :)

I still thank you for all your wonderful tips (take it day by day, the pix resizer, and the sonic 55 speakers, are the ones that stand out to me right this second)

Because I chose to take it day by day, it weirds me out to see all these kids with punkin patch pictures cuz it doesn't seem possible it's October ALREADY.
Wasn't it just AUGUST? Oh yeah...that's when I got here...
Time has marched on-but living in the moment has caused so much joy for me, and I think, for Leeza too.

Bless you oh wise, sage, and most beautiful Regina.
I'M NOT WORTHY I'M NOT WORTHY.

Has it made any difference in his depth perception and running into things? Or is that genetic in the sense that he's a little boy? We could hardly keep my little brother upright for all his tumbling!

He's just the happiest little munchkin, and what a relief he bounced right back. And evidently has not stopped bouncing... !!

He's beautiful!!

Great pictures!!! He looks so happy!! Everything gets better with time. As we approach the six month mark I am amazed at all the progress Karina has made. Each month will bring improvements in behavior and closer ties. Amazing how resilient these little ones are huh? Milo was cute before and has only upped his cuteness factor. Love those cheeks!!

Beautiful, Beautiful! I also remember not even noticing Nick's eye until we saw a close up picture which always made it seem so much worse. I am so thrilled that he is doing well. The joy in his face is so contagious....what a little blessing he is!
