We celebrated this special holiday yesterday by attending an Adoption Day Ceremony at Azalea Park in Summerville.
I was honored to help write and officiate at the candle lighting ceremony for the event. (I am a certified civil Celebrant.)
Many families braved the drizzle and huddled beneath the gazebo and under umbrellas. We enjoyed music, shared stories and lit candles. I was excited to be one of the parents who shared our adoption story. Of course Milo, the perpetual ham, wanted to take over the microphone! After the event we joined several families at a restaurant for dinner and playtime.
It was interesting to re-read my blog post from this same day last year, and remember the very different tone of this holiday for us then. Proof positive that a whole helluva lot can happen in one year! (Oh yes, his eyes were sparkling.)
Milo has been extra huggy and kissy this week. Earlier tonight he gave me the longest goodnight hug ever. I could tell he really meant it. I am still in a puddle.

Hi Regina,
Oh wow....I can't believe how much Milo has changed. Weird in such a short time really. Right now Audrey is keeping me on my toes and I'm "trying" to take a peek at blogs. I really want to get in and read but I'll check back when she's napping during the day.
Pat left and will be arriving in VA at 4:00 PM today! I am going to try to see if it's possible for me to fly to South Carolina in December before he leaves the U.S. He's training down there. Please keep your fingers crossed that I'll get to do this. I miss him so much already.
Thanks for writing recently. I miss chatting with you but we're both so busy with little ones now :)
Take care,
Eileen
LOVE the laughter on the montage...priceless! Nick was watching it with me!
Sounds like a great time and a wonderful way to celebrate the day! I love the photos and the video is hysterical.

Oh my gosh that video is so cute. Milo is so cute! Those cheeks are just precious. I know everyone says that, but seeing them in real life (ok, video real life) is just amazing. And the "uh oh" is hilarious.
He is a great eater! Wow! The first time Gigi tried sauerkraut, she grimaced and spit it back out. LOL!
I love how accepting he is of things - so willing to just try something new without hesitation as others might have. That's a great trait. Maybe he will become a diplomat when he grows up. We need more people who are accepting and tolerant in our world. Hooray for Milo. Happy Thanksgiving to you - there is much to be thankful for this year. Happy
he is just so yummy!! What a sweet wonderful boy and he even eats sauerkraut. I bet Leeza would too-she eats everything! LOL
I am so happy for you-and what a wonderful thing to be able to part of the adoption day celebration. I do remember you post about it last year. :)
I bet you melted when you got a really sincere hug. I cry when I get them from Leeza and from Sean-and he is 10. He is like 'Mom, why are you crying?" LOL
you are now a member of the "mushy mom's club". :)
Congrats! :)
Perfect pic for the calendar-he is just so gorgeous-and sweet. )
That is so wonderful that you participated in the ceremony. I'll have to go back and read the post from this time last year. Yes, so much happens in a year. WOw. HE IS A GORGEOUS, PRECIOUS DOLL!!!! xooxox
Love the video!!! What a great smile Milo has! Milo made a very good cowboy too! The mustache was fantastic!
I can never get enough of him. He's such a joy to watch and be around, even during a tantrum...not that he ever has any of those. LOL. Really, he's so adorable; I just continue to be in awe and amazement. We love him so much! I can't wait for our next visit!! The video is great to see. I love how animated he is. The one eyebrow raised up reminds me of the typical Ruopoli boys' move. I love it!
OMG!! He is SOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!! I love the pictures on the calender of him!
Milo is still so very cute and I love his laugh!
I bet the Adoption Day ceremony was wonderful. You are so good at speaking from the heart -- I'm sure you had every one in laughter and in tears.
Wow, a pinup boy already! ;) Happy, happy, happy for you guys.
How cute! His laugh cracks me up and I loved the end of the video where he is saying uhh oh. Great pic for the calendar. We put one in as well. Gena
Milo's smile & light in his eyes makes me cry for joy for your family!
