Going Private - P.S.

Eeek!

Blogger has recently started limiting the number of invitations you can send for private blogs to 100 people per blog. This kinda stinks. If you do not receive an invitation, please do not take it personally. We will probably have to narrow it down to those people closest to us, our longtime supporters and those who are adopting soon too.

(Has anyone had any luck getting Blogger to increase your account settings for this?)

I have well over 100 readers. It limits it to 100 authors, which is different than everyday blog readers. Under permissions blog authors comes first, than readers. Under readers click "only these readers" and then "add invite" at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kim,

You must have started before they set the limit. If you started a new blog today, it would limit you to 100 authors AND 100 readers.

Blogger is really pissing me off with this!!! Grrrr...

What a bummer and a ridiculous rule!

FYI - It looks like this started around February 19, 2008.

This is what I read in the Help Archives:

Subject: Re: Is NO ONE Concerned About New Blogger Limit of 100 READERS???

Hey folks,

Yeah as of now there is now way around the 100 person limit on private blogs :-(

The reason that the limit is in place now is because there were lots of performance issues that arised as a blog amassed more than 100 readers. But this is good feedback and I will definitely pass along your concerns to the rest of the team and we will see what we can do.

Thanks for hanging in there,
-Gatsby

Wow I hope this gets solved - it would be terrible not to follow the journeys of those we all become so attached to! I'll also see if I can find anything about this. Grrrrr.

We'll all send chocolate, gift baskets, whatever to reserve a spot ;).

I would love an invite but understand if you choose someone else. :)

Everyone close to you understands the limitations. They are what they are. Don't sweat the small stuff...

I have silently been stalking your blog and am saddened to hear that you will be going private and are limited to only 100 readers. Do you know if or when you might reopen it to the public? The point you are at in your adoption is the most exciting to read about and helps remind me as I wait the all the reasons we started on this journey! Good luck as you travel and meet your little one!

it does stink. I had to delete some people from ours. I don't like it. :(

We're traveling soon. So they tell us. What is soon? One never knows. But we would love to follow along your journey, too.
